This is a most interesting story, because I was literally just the other day discussing with a few friends how the Great Yarmouth area hasn’t seen much innovation for a fair while. Well, it turns out a £30 million casino is on the cards.

Pleasure and Leisure Property Corporation (PLPC), the company behind Great Yarmouth’s world famous Pleasure Beach, has been chosen by the Great Yarmouth Council to operate the brand new mega casino which is currently being finalised.

It was decided that PLPC’s proposal offered the most benefit to both local residents and tourists alike, though we take this to mean “they offered us the most money”. There’s no need to be cynical though, because this is set to be an awesome casino should everything go accordingly to plan.

The new casino is due for construction this year, and is to be situation right next to the existing Pleasure Beach, no doubt maximising profits on the huge tourist footfall which is already in place. I for one couldn’t be happier, because less walking is always a bonus!

Creating upwards of 1000 new jobs the casino is set to feature huge gaming floors filled with thousands of table games and slots, sprawling bars, epic bowling alley, incredibly lavish restaurants, and mega-sized eight-screen cinema courtesy of Odean. Potentially this could beat all the casinos in London if pulled off correctly.

Not only this, but there are plans to build a four star hotel on the same site, according Albert Jones of the Pleasure and Leisure Property Corporation. He added that the company was “absolutely delighted” at the news. That makes two of us Albert, I can’t wait!
