A recent report shows that, despite the changing economic conditions that the UK and Europe in general have experienced over the last few years, there are more London gamblers than ever before, a finding which is music to the ears of businesses in the capital. With various factors seeming to be the cause, either way this means more revenue for the casinos themselves and more tax revenue for the government as well.

The fact that two new huge casinos in London, described as mega resorts, have opened over the past year has certainly been a contributing factor, with players flocking to these venues to try them out and the publicity around their opening sparking more interest in casino gambling in general amongst members of the public. Of course, there has also been a renewed interest in the city thanks to its status as the host for the 2012 Olympics, an event that did not create much interest while the games were actually on but which certainly prompted huge numbers of tourists to come down both before and after the games in order to see the venues and experience the area in response to the heavy publicity surrounding it. This in turn allowed many people to visit the casinos whilst holidaying, and it seems that gambling is an ever more popular pastime amongst locals too as regular attendance is high across the city.

The Aspers casino in Stratford is just approaching its first year anniversary in the next month, and management there say that they have been stunned by the approach from people who actually live in London, who make up the bulk of their visitors. The same is true of the Hippodrome in Leicester Square, where figures show that thousands of people who live in the area visit the casino every single night. In fact, across these two casinos they are now seeing double the projected visitor figures that were originally predicted when the process of creating and building the casinos was going through, something which suggests that land based gambling is certainly here to stay.
