The Isle of Man is taking into consideration the possible option of adjusting its gaming laws to permit live online casino in uk gambling events to be organised on the island. A consultation has been recently launched by The Department of Economic Development, taking into consideration recommendations to modify the 1986 Casino Act, aswell as the Gaming Betting and Lotteries Act of 1988. These changes would be in the name of creating new opportunities in the economy.

Tournaments of this nature often hold huge numbers of participants, sometimes in excess of 800 people, but unfortunately for the Isle of Man the only casino on the island simply lacks the space required for such a large event. The DED have been having conversations together with the Sefton Group’s Palace Hotel concerning the prospects for holding such tournaments at alternative locations, which would be licensed temporarily by the Gambling Supervision Commission. One particular suggested venue is Douglas’s very own Villa Marina.

“The Department has identified a chance to be able to catch the attention of live gaming events to the island with all of the affiliated economic advantages they will bring in relation to increased bed nights, spend in the local economic system and elevated passenger volumes on airplanes serving the island,” said Minister for Economic Development John Shimmin. “At the current time regulations limit which locations can be employed for such functions. The suggested Casino (Amendment) Bill will offer the Gambling Supervision Commission the capabilities to grant short-term licences for these situations at a broader range of possible sites.”
